Carla Battel is an aspiring 3D animator from Bristol, Virginia, specializing in character and creature animation. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and has experience animating a wide range of rigs including humans, humanoids, robots, quadrupeds, flying creatures, large-scale creatures, and vehicles. In addition to animation, Carla is highly versatile within the digital sphere, with skills in 3D modeling, asset creation, sculpting, video editing, simulations, cinematography, and lighting. She primarily works in Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine, with additional experience in Blender, Adobe Creative Cloud, Houdini, and Nuke, and remains eager to learn new tools and software. She recently collaborated with a team of animators and creatives on the short film Super Tim, where she animated both major and background characters, assisted with asset creation, and helped troubleshoot technical challenges within Maya and Unreal Engine.
Outside of digital media, Carla volunteers at the Paramount Bristol theatre, where she supports live events by assisting guests, guiding attendees to their seats, protecting the stage from potential hazards, and monitoring backstage access. Carla is also a member of the CBAT Andrew Leadership Academy at ETSU, where she continues to develop her service leadership skills and engage with her community. Her long-term goal is to establish her own studio, where she can create freely while uplifting other talented artists and giving them a platform to be heard.
Part of a collaboration between CBAT Leadership Academy and Appalachian Service Project. We painted the outside of a building that will become housing and schooling for Appalachians who lost their homes to Hurricane Helene.
Part of a collaboration between CBAT Leadership Academy and Coalition for Kids. We wrapped presents for children across the Washington County area. The event was called “Wrapping for Others”. I wrapped so many pairs of shoes and toys. It was such a great experience.
